A little about the girl behind the flowers: I grew up by the ocean and feel at home at the beach. Aside from my obvious creative hobby’s, I’d have to say that food is my one true love. You’ll find me at my happiest with pasta and a cheeky glass of wine, and I’m a firm believer in the second ‘desert stomach’, am I right?!
I’ve always been a creative person, from when I was young. I was the high schooler that took all the arty subjects and lived for those classes. I’ve always been told that the way I think and see things is really different, and I think this out of the box thinking is due to my strong creative side.
I’m in my element when I’m being creative and I’ve always known that was the direction my career would take. I have been running my own freelance graphic design and photography business for 6 years, where I work with other small businesses in the fashion, beauty, health and corporate sector. While I absolutely love my work, I found that I missed the freedom of creating beautiful things for the sake of beauty and art and the strategic composition involved in graphic design just wasn’t hitting the creative spot for me anymore.
So when my best friend asked me to do some of the flowers for her beautiful wedding in the Hunter Valley, I threw my whole self into the task. I spent months of planning on what beautiful native flowers I could forage to create beautiful hanging installations that suited both the venue and her theme. When the wedding was over I felt like something was missing, so I began experimenting with drying out flowers and creating arrangements and from there, Wild Meraki Flora was born!
Wild Meraki Flora is boho, wild, raw, unstructured & modern. We believe each design should reflect the personality and style of the individual, couple or brand. We approach each arrangement as a work of art, drawing from our design experience & creative vision to create something truly unique & beautiful. We love combining the earthy textures of dried flowers with seasonal fresh blooms. We are up for any challenge, but work best paired with free-spirited & relaxed clients who give us creative freedom & put their complete trust in us to translate their unique vision for their wedding, event into a floral experience they’ll remember for years to come.
