DRIED FLOWER CARE

Getting the most out of your dried flowers

In the right conditions and with the right care, dried flowers can last for years! Here are our top tips for prolonging the life out of your dried blooms.

1. Keep them out of direct sunlight

Dried flowers will slowly break down & fade over time, & the sun speeds up this process! Display them in a place that doesn’t get any direct sun during the day.

2. Store them somewhere dry

Getting dried flowers wet is a massive no no! Avoid high moisture rooms such as bathrooms, or near the kettle or stove in the kitchen.

3. Dust your dried flowers

Dried flowers can collect dust over time. To remove dust, put your hair dryer on cold and the lowest setting and blow from a distance. A compressed air spray will also do the trick!

4. Put them away on really humid days

Dried flowers absorb water so they should be kept out of high humidity areas. Unfortunately humid days can’t be helped, so if you notice the humidity is above average, temporarily move your dried flowers into a cool dry area.

5. Do not water them

The best thing about dried flowers is that they are low maintenance so you do not need to water. Water can make them go mouldy and deteriorate.

6. Be gentle

Dried flowers can be fragile so handle them with care. Keep them out of windy areas & do not display them in the direction of air or heat vents.

Dried Flower FAQ’s

How long do they last?

With the right care and conditions, dried flowers can last approximately 1-3 years. See above for our top care tips to prolong the life of your dried blooms.

Are they suitable for people with allergies?

Yes! Dried flowers have no pollen so they don’t cause hay fever allergic reactions.

Will they keep their colour?

I use a mix of dried and preserved flowers in my arrangements. Naturally dried flowers will slowly fade over time, whereas preserved flowers that have been dyed will keep their colour.

Are dried flowers real flowers?

Yes, dried flowers are 100% real flowers that have been naturally dried out. We also use preserved flowers & foliage in our arrangements which involves the flowers going through a chemical process to preserve and dye them.

Do you have a store front?

No, we are a studio based florist. Pick-up is available in Allambie Heights or we also deliver around the Northern Beaches.
