WEDDING BUDGET GUIDE

Budgeting for wedding flowers

We understand that planning a wedding & talking budget with a multitude of vendors can be really overwhelming. Generally, if you want flowers to be a feature of your wedding we recommend putting 10-15% of your total budget towards florals. If you are envisioning your wedding full of flowers like the epic images you see on Pinterest, we recommend budgeting 20-25% towards florals. There are so many variables when it comes to pricing up flowers & endless options that you can choose for your wedding, but below is a rough guide to help you plan what could be covered in your price range.

Under $1,000

Perfect for micro-weddings, elopements or personal flowers for just the bridal party as this could cover a bridal bouquet, two bridesmaid bouquets plus the groomsmen’s buttonholes. This could also be flexible to include a few extra little elements such as a flower crown or cake flowers.

$1,000 - $3,000

Depending on the size of your bridal party, this budget could cover personal flowers for the bridal party, some small simplistic arrangements or bud vases at the reception & a feature at either the ceremony or reception.

$3,000 - $5,000

This budget could cover personal flowers for the bridal party, a feature with at both the ceremony & reception (eg bridal table arrangement) plus some simplistic arrangements or bud vases for the reception. Depending on the size of your bridal party this could also include extras like signage flowers, cake table/bar arrangements, etc.

$5,000 - $7,500

The perfect budget for you if you are interested in personal flowers, a ceremony feature, a hanging installation at the reception with flowers & candles for the guest tables. If you want a larger statement feature you could also opt to have a full arbour & isle flowers OR a larger installation at the reception & bridal table feature.

$7,500 -$10,000

For those looking to create impact & make a statement! This budget could include personal flowers, an impressive full arbour/ceremony installation with isle flowers, a hanging installation & bridal table feature at the reception plus flowers & candles for the guest tables. Potentially even some extra floral installations around the reception. Plus all of the little extra details like signage flowers, cake flowers, arrangements for the signage table, bar, cake table, etc.

* Prices are not inclusive of travel, set-up, bump out & hire. Pricing variables that affect the price include the size of the bridal party, amount of wedding guests, the type of flowers used, etc. These are rough guidelines only - each wedding is unique & we provide a custom quote upon request.

MAXIMISING YOUR FLOWER BUDGET

How to make the most of your wedding flower budget

Below are our top tips & tricks on how to maximise your wedding flower budget.

1. Work out what’s important

Decide on what you absolutely need & see how much money is left over for the rest. In most cases this will probably be personal flowers for the bridal party, or maybe you want a show stopping ceremony backdrop? Work out what is important to you two as a couple & what you can do without.

2. Re-use your ceremony flowers

We will always suggest moving your ceremony installation & arrangement/s into the reception if it’s possible for us to move & the venue/s allow for it. This is a cost effective way to add more flowers to your reception. We suggest moving your arbour or installation behind you on the bridal table, at the entrance as your guests walk in, or in an area where your guests can use it as a photo backdrop! Any arrangements such as the one from the signing table or isle pieces can go onto the bar or cake table at the reception.

3. Be flexible

Flowers are seasonal & while you might have a favourite flower in mind for your wedding, it doesn’t mean that flower is in season. Some varieties of flowers can be available through import, but they are more expensive compared to locally sourced, seasonal flowers. Trust your florists creative mind & give them the freedom to select the most beautiful seasonal flowers to achieve your brief/colour palette.

4. Use statement pieces

Put your money towards arrangements that will create the most impact such as your bridal bouquet, ceremony backdrop & bridal table. These elements will be surrounding you during the day & they will feature in a lot of your photos with you as a couple. If you have a budget in mind, we believe that you are better off putting more money into impactful statement pieces versus thinly spreading the budget across all areas of the wedding. We elaborate more on how to save on the guest tables in the next point.

5. Keep the guest tables simple

Guest table arrangements can add up quickly when you have a lot of them! When the budget is tight, we suggest keeping it simple with an assortment of bud vases & candles - not only is this our favourite look but it is also the most cost effective. If you want to save even more, just do a mix of candles. Then you can allocate the money to the more important areas such as the ceremony.

6. Trust your florist

Choose a florist who’s creative style you love & aligns with your own! They will be able to guide you on the most cost effective ways to maximise your budget. Your florist can come up with the design & select flowers based off your budget - you just have to be really open & trust in their creativity.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Wedding FAQ’s

What areas do you service?

We are based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, & service Sydney and surrounding regions. Our style is well suited to relaxed boho style events which is perfect for venues in the Hunter Valley. South Coast & Blue Mountains. We love travelling and working in unique locations & can provide quotes for travel upon request.

How far in advanced do we need to book?

We recommend booking at least 6 months in advanced, the sooner the better though to avoid disappointment as we only take on one weekend per weekend & some couples lock in their vendors 12-18 months in advanced.

Do you have a minimum spend?

To cater to elopements & be flexible with the micro-weddings resulting from COVID-19, we do not have a minimum spend. Please note that flowers from our wholesaler come in bunches so we may need to charge more for a standalone bouquet because unlike a full service wedding, we don’t have other areas that we can use the leftover flowers in.

How can we book with you?

Send us a message with all of the details here.

What is the process of booking?

Firstly send us a message here so we can chat about your wedding, then we will provide you with a design recommendation & quote. See more info about the process.

How do I lock in my wedding date?

We require a 30% non refundable deposit to secure your wedding date, we cannot hold your date until this is paid.

When is the rest of the payment due?

The rest of your balance is due 30 days before your wedding so that we can order & get prepped.

Can I have a specific flower variety in my wedding?

Flowers are seasonal & there are so many other variables that can factor their availability. This is why we never make any promises that a specific flower species will feature in your wedding. We try our best to cater to your wishes & will use it if it is available when the time comes.

How much will it cost to have you flower at our wedding?

All of our weddings are bespoke and completely customised to each couple. We have written a budget guide above to give you a rough idea on what you might be able to get for your budget. See our budget guide.

What if we are on a budget?

We can give you direction & ideas on what is possible within your budget. We have also written some tips on how you can maximise your floral budget here.

Do you offer hire items?

We have a limited range of hire items including candles, pots & vases for our flower arrangements. We also have some beautiful large urns that can be used as a ceremony backdrop.

What if I change my mind?

Because of how far weddings are booked in advanced, we understand that your style or the logistics might change. We will be in touch 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding day to run through any details, review any changes & provide a new quote if necessary.

Are you the right florist for us?

If you love our style & are open to us bringing your vision to life then yes! We work best paired with free-spirited & relaxed clients who give us creative freedom & put their complete trust in us.
